Cipriani NYC Wedding in New York City

Cipriani 42nd Street Wedding Photography and Videography

Cipriani 42nd Street has a scale that very few venues can match. The soaring ceilings, gilded architecture, and grand ballroom interiors make it one of the most photographically distinctive wedding venues in New York City. Photographing a Cipriani 42nd Street wedding always feels cinematic. What I find most compelling about working in this space is how the personal moments read against that scale. A quiet exchange between two people in the middle of a room that grand somehow makes both things more vivid.

As a Cipriani NYC wedding photographer, I’ve photographed weddings at several venues across the Cipriani brand in New York City, and experience in these spaces genuinely matters. The pace is fast, the lighting shifts as the evening moves, and the guest count is often large. Knowing the venue means understanding where the ceremony light is strongest, how the reception typically flows, and where to be before the moments happen rather than after.

If you’re planning a wedding at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, I would love to hear more about what you’re envisioning for the day.

Betsi was AMAZING! She captured everything we were hoping for. The photos were candid and truly showed our personalities in every way. Betsi has a welcoming demeanor, does expert work, and has fantastic attention to detail. We seriously cannot thank Betsi enough for simply being her and making our day so special!

Michaela and Francesco, Cipriani 42nd Street Wedding

Michaela and Francesco's wedding day moved through three of New York City's most iconic spaces: a ceremony at St. Francis Xavier Church, portraits at the New York Public Library, and dinner and dancing at Cipriani 42nd Street. It's the kind of day that only happens in New York.

The New York Public Library portraits were a highlight. The Library has specific rules about access and timing, so it takes real coordination to make the most of the space, but when the light comes through right and the subjects are Michaela and Francesco, you get something that could only have been made there.

At Cipriani, the reception had a detail that I'm still thinking about. Francesco owns Buttercooky Bakery, one of New York's most beloved bakeries, and he designed a custom wedding cake specifically for the space: over ten feet tall and built to hold its own in a room of that scale. It became the centerpiece of the reception in every sense. The energy of the evening matched the setting. Candlelit tables, live music, a packed dance floor under those ceilings.

FAQs

How many guests can Cipriani 42nd Street accommodate?

Cipriani 42nd Street can seat up to 850 guests for a dinner reception and hold approximately 1,800 for a standing event. The venue's four-story banquet room with 65-foot ceilings and grand marble columns gives even large weddings an intimate, cinematic feel. Most weddings I've photographed here range from 200 to 500 guests, and the space scales beautifully across that range.

Cipriani 42nd Street pricing is seasonal, typically ranging from $275 to $300 per person, plus a 24% service charge and tax. There is no separate rental fee — the cost covers a six-hour celebration including ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. With a preferred guest minimum of 200, most couples should expect a starting investment of roughly $55,000–$60,000 for the venue alone before additional vendors, photographer, videographer, florals, and entertainment.

How much does a wedding at Cipriani 42nd Street cost?

Originally built as the Bowery Savings Bank, Cipriani 42nd Street is a designated New York City landmark with Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture — soaring marble columns, gilded details, ornate arched ceilings, and grand chandeliers. It's located directly adjacent to Grand Central Terminal on 42nd Street, which also means nearby portrait locations like the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, and Grand Central itself are all within walking distance.

What makes Cipriani 42nd Street a unique wedding venue?

Why does it matter to hire a photographer with Cipriani experience?

Cipriani's grand scale creates specific challenges that a photographer unfamiliar with the space will struggle with. The ceilings are 65 feet high, the lighting shifts dramatically between ceremony and reception, and the pace of a 200+ guest wedding is fast. I've photographed weddings across multiple Cipriani venues in New York City, which means I already know where the best natural light falls during ceremony, how to work with the venue's event flow, and where to position for key moments without disrupting the evening. That familiarity translates directly into better images and a calmer experience for you.
