Cody and Payal's full Gurney's Montauk wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings. On their first date, Cody Plofker and Payal Patel went through two bottles of wine during a dinner they did not want to end while in Boston for a seminar, a night that inevitably became the beginning of their story. Over the years that followed, they marked each anniversary with meaningful experiences, from cooking classes to shared adventures.

As they approached their fifth milestone during the pandemic, Payal knew planning an indoor event would be challenging. Instead, a quiet hike with their dog led to an unforgettable proposal. When Cody dropped to one knee, Payal said yes, later laughing that her first thought was making sure the ring stayed safe in the middle of the woods.

Originally envisioning a far-flung destination wedding, the couple ultimately focused on finding a location closer to home with personal significance. The Hamptons quickly emerged as the perfect fit, offering both familiarity and ease for their loved ones. After touring multiple venues, they arrived at Gurney's Resort and Seawater Spa. Standing on the terrace overlooking the ocean, they knew they had found the right place. As Payal put it, it felt like the perfect oasis.

The wedding honored both of their backgrounds fully, with Payal wearing Anita Dongre, a joyful Dhol Player weaving through the celebration, and an evening that felt completely natural from start to finish.
