As an Aspen wedding photographer, I've photographed several weddings at The Little Nell, and every one has been incredibly memorable. The venue sits at the base of Aspen Mountain with ceremony locations that feel both grand and intimate, mountain views that stop you in your tracks, and an alpine atmosphere that makes every image feel effortless and elevated. Whether you're getting married in the middle of summer wildflower season or against a backdrop of fresh winter snow, The Little Nell is one of those venues where the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting.
One of my favorite moments of any Little Nell wedding day is the Silver Queen Gondola ride up Aspen Mountain. You and your guests board at the base and take a 2.5-mile journey up to 11,212 feet above sea level, arriving at the summit in about 15 minutes surrounded by some of the most sweeping mountain views in Colorado. It's a genuinely fun experience that doubles as an incredible photo opportunity, and it gives everyone a chance to slow down and soak in the day before the celebration really begins.

The Little Nell has twelve distinct event locations on site, each with its own character. Some of my favorites include the Little Nell Wedding Deck, the Wedding Overlook, the ASPENX Mountain Club, and the Sundeck. Jeff and Zoe, The Little Nell Wedding Deck, Aspen
Jeff and Zoe met in 2019 while Zoe was attending a workshop where Jeff was the facilitator. There was an immediate spark they couldn't shake, and for months they stayed in touch through a Slack group created after the weekend retreat. Zoe eventually drummed up the courage to ask Jeff out the next time they were both in the same city.
On their first date in New York City, they went to the classic West Village restaurant Minetta Tavern, stayed out all night in true New York fashion, and the rest was history. They began dating long distance between San Francisco, where Jeff was based, and Denver, where Zoe lived. At the start of the pandemic, the two unexpectedly found themselves living together and soon embraced a nomadic lifestyle, with their first stop being the Roaring Fork Valley in Old Snowmass.
They quickly fell in love with this part of Colorado, along with their Bernese Mountain Dog, Miles. Although they traveled thousands of miles across the country over the next two years, Snowmass and Aspen always felt like home. When Jeff proposed, Aspen was the only choice for their wedding.
Their Little Nell wedding was a refined, mountain-chic celebration at one of Aspen's most iconic venues, planned by Julian Leaver and photographed by Betsi Ewing Weddings. It was later featured in Rocky Mountain Bride.

The Little Nell offers several distinct ceremony settings depending on your vision and guest count. The most iconic is the mountaintop at the Sundeck, reached by the Silver Queen Gondola and offering panoramic views of the Elk Mountains. The Courtyard at the base of the hotel is a more intimate option surrounded by the building and landscaping, while the garden spaces allow for ceremonies with open mountain backdrops. Each location has its own atmosphere and light, and I know them all well.
